Car Loans & Asset Finance

Car Loans and Asset Finance in Adelaide

My Finance Solutions is an Adelaide finance broker that helps families, tradies and self employed buyers finance new and used cars, utes and work vehicles. We work with buyers right across Adelaide and beyond, comparing options across a panel of more than 60 lenders so you can focus on finding the right vehicle while we sort the finance.

What Can My Finance Solutions Help You Finance?

We arrange both personal and commercial car loans, from the family SUV to the work ute your business relies on. Whether you are buying from a dealer or a private seller, new or used, we start with how you plan to use the vehicle and look for lenders whose criteria fit.

Personal Car Loans

A personal car loan is finance to buy a vehicle for personal use, repaid in regular instalments over a set term. The car is normally used as security, and secured car loans may offer a lower rate than some unsecured personal loans, depending on the lender and your circumstances.

We help with:

  • New and used cars from dealers
  • Private sales, including checking the car is clear of existing finance
  • Family cars, SUVs and 4WDs
  • Refinancing an existing car loan
  • Pre-approval before you shop

Why get pre-approved first?

Pre-approval is a lender’s conditional agreement to lend up to a set amount before you choose a car. It can give you a clearer idea of your borrowing limit before you shop, subject to lender conditions and final approval, and puts you in a stronger position when you negotiate.

Commercial Car and Asset Finance

A commercial car loan, also called asset finance, lets your business buy the vehicles it needs and pay for them over time, with the vehicle usually acting as security. It keeps your working capital free for wages, materials and growth.

We can help you finance:

  • Utes, dual cabs and tray tops
  • Vans and light commercial vehicles
  • Trucks and trailers
  • Fleet vehicles for growing businesses

Which structure suits your business?

  • Chattel mortgage: your business owns the vehicle from day one, and the lender holds it as security until the loan is repaid.
  • Finance lease: the lender owns the vehicle and your business pays to use it, usually with the option to buy it at the end of the term.
  • Hire purchase: the lender owns the vehicle until your final payment, when ownership passes to your business.

Each structure treats GST, depreciation and ownership differently, so check with your accountant which suits your tax position. For excavators, tools and other machinery, see our Business Loans page.

Novated Leases

A novated lease is an agreement between you, your employer and a lender, where your employer pays for a car and its running costs from your salary. Depending on your salary, the car and how the lease is structured, it may reduce the income tax you pay. Whether it suits you depends on your circumstances, so we recommend getting tax advice before you commit.

Car Finance for Tradies and Self Employed Buyers

Banks often find self employed income harder to assess than a wage. Irregular income, a recently registered ABN or a business that reinvests its profits can make a simple car loan look complicated on paper.

Tom Langford founded My Finance Solutions in 2015, and we have spent more than a decade helping self employed families and business owners with their finance. We help organise and present your BAS statements, tax returns and bank statements clearly, and where it suits, look at low doc car loans that use BAS or business bank statements instead of full financials.

Yes. Many lenders offer car loans for self employed borrowers, including low doc options that use BAS statements or business bank statements instead of full tax returns. We look for lenders whose policies suit how you earn.

In most cases, yes. Pre-approval can give you a clearer idea of your borrowing limit before you shop, subject to lender conditions and final approval, and helps you move quickly when you find the right car.

Yes. Most lenders finance used cars from dealers and private sellers, subject to the age and condition of the vehicle. We help check that the car is clear of any existing finance before you buy.

A balloon payment is a lump sum left owing at the end of the loan term. It lowers your regular repayments, but you need to plan how you will pay it out, refinance it or trade the car in when the term ends.

Not necessarily. A broker compares options across many lenders rather than one, which can uncover a rate or structure that suits you better. We explain every fee before you sign.

A personal car loan is for a vehicle you mainly use privately. A commercial car loan, or asset finance, is for a vehicle used mainly for your business, usually through a chattel mortgage, finance lease or hire purchase, and can be treated differently for GST and tax.
